Dura news controls and closing your account

Releases Released 4 min read

This release keeps two promises from the Privacy Notice. Every email with news about Dura now has a link to stop them, and you can switch them off in Settings. And you can close your Dura account yourself from Settings, after taking a copy of your records.

What's new

  • "Don't send me Dura news". Every email about what's new in Dura has this link in its footer. It works without signing in: the page it opens asks "Stop Dura news?", and nothing changes until you tap "Don't send me Dura news". Your email app may also show its own unsubscribe button for these emails.
  • Settings, then "Dura news". A switch right after "Weekly email". Tap "Turn off Dura news" to stop them, or "Turn on Dura news" to get them again.
  • The weekly email is separate. Turning off Dura news doesn't stop your Monday weekly email, and turning off the weekly email doesn't stop Dura news. Emails about your account, such as sign-in links, are separate too.
  • Settings, then "Close my account". A new link under "Your data". The page has three steps: take your records, see what happens, then confirm.

How to use it

  1. To stop news emails, tap "Don't send me Dura news" at the bottom of one, then tap the button on the page it opens. Or open Settings and tap "Turn off Dura news".
  2. To close your account, open Settings and tap "Close my account" under "Your data".
  3. Download your records first if you want them: there is a CSV and a JSON button for each household and for your private pocket. It's free.
  4. Read "What happens". It names any household that will be deleted because you are its only member.
  5. Tick the box and tap "Close my account". The button stays off until the box is ticked.

Good to know

  • Everyone starts with Dura news on. If you click the stop link twice, nothing goes wrong.
  • When you close your account you are signed out at once on every device, and apps and agents using your tokens stop working.
  • Your account is deleted within 30 days: your email address, password, sign-ins and settings.
  • Households where you are the only member are deleted with everything in them, and so is your private pocket.
  • Shared households keep the entries you made, under your first name, so their books still add up. They stay until that household is deleted. To have them removed, ask the household's owner or write to privacy@muchiround.com.
  • Invitations you sent are cancelled.
  • If you are the only owner of a shared household with other members, you hand it over first. The page tells you so at the top and has an "Open Members" button, where you choose Make owner for someone else. Or remove the other members, and the household is deleted with your account.
  • We keep the record of your agreement for up to 3 years, so we can show we had it. It doesn't include your email address.
  • Withdrawing your agreement in Settings, then "Your agreement", ends the same way as closing your account. You can also ask to close it by writing to privacy@muchiround.com, as the Terms of Use say.

Frequently asked questions

Does turning off Dura news stop the weekly email?

No. They are two separate switches in Settings. Dura news is the occasional email about what's new in Dura. The weekly email is your household's Monday summary, and it has its own unsubscribe link.

What happens to entries I made in a shared household when I close my account?

They stay with that household under your first name, so the other members' books still add up. Your email address goes. To have them removed, ask the household's owner or write to privacy@muchiround.com.
