Receipts, the welcome tour and guides
The day after launch, Dura learned to read receipts. Snap a supermarket slip, hand it to the coach or forward the email, and Dura suggests an envelope for every line. Nothing comes out of any envelope until a person checks it and confirms. The same release gave new members a guided first evening, made Dura installable on your home screen, opened the public guides and gave every email a proper Dura look.
What's new
- Receipt scanning, three ways in. The scan button on the table header takes a photo, a picture from your gallery or a PDF. The paperclip in the coach chat takes one too. Or forward an emailed receipt to your private receipts address.
- The receipt inbox. Receipts waiting for a person show under "To check" on the table, shared by the whole household.
- Review, then deduct. Dura reads the shop, the date, each line and the total, and suggests an envelope per line. You can change any line, add one or skip one, and a summary shows what will come out of each envelope before you tap the button.
- The welcome tour. The first time a new member opens a real table, a six-step spotlight tour points at the cash, the envelopes, the scan button, the coach and Cash in.
- Learn the table and the Table ready sticker. A checklist of six real first actions ticks itself off as you do them. Finish all six and a gold Table ready sticker joins your household's stamps, making ten in all.
- An installable app. Add Dura to your home screen and it opens full screen, with shortcuts to Scan, Cash in and Coach. You can share a receipt into Dura from Photos or Files.
- Public guides. Five free guides at /guides on cash envelope budgeting, the exchange cost, getting started, everyday habits and keeping it fun.
- Branded emails. Sign-in links, password resets, invites and receipt emails share one Dura layout, with a plain-text version and dark mode where your email app supports it. The receipt email lists each line and the envelope it was matched to.
How to use it
- Tap the scan button at the top of the table and take a photo of the receipt.
- Wait for Dura to read it, then check each line and its envelope. Use "Add a line" for anything it missed.
- If one envelope's cash paid for the whole slip, choose it under "Whose cash did you hand over?".
- Read "What will be deducted", then tap Deduct. Changed your mind? Tap Discard and nothing is deducted.
- To email receipts in, open Settings, find "Email receipts" and tap Copy next to your address.
- To install, use "Install Dura" on the card that appears on your table, or the panel in Settings. On an iPhone, open Dura in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Good to know
- Each household can scan up to 40 receipts a day.
- Your receipts address is yours alone. If it is ever shared by mistake, "Make a new address" replaces it and the old one stops working.
- The tour shows once and can be skipped. "Show me around again" in Settings, under "Getting started", brings back the tour and the checklist.
- Only your own actions in a real household tick off the checklist. The sample household does not count.
- Receipt images open only for signed-in members of your household, through links that expire after 5 minutes.
- Since 28 October, reading a receipt you upload needs your own yes to AI, and emailed receipts need a yes from at least one member. See Your privacy: consent, AI controls, Terms and Privacy.
